Originally from Nottingham, I left the East Midlands and ventured west for University. Graduating in 2010 with a First Class Honours in Media and Communication where I specialised in Web and New Media, I went straight into employment in a graphic design agency in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter for three years before moving on to Made Media where I currently help make the internet pretty (and functional too, of course).
I primarily build and develop websites but when I get a chance, I also design, such as DBK or Jewellery Quarter. These can be completely from scratch or elaborating on initial designs and expanding it across the entire site I'm building. I take sites from flat designs right through to the finished live version. This includes setting up server space, pointing domains, installing wordpress and turning the HTML pages I've created into fully functioning PHP wordpress templates.
I’ve had the chance to work with clients from a variety of sectors including: radio, education, property, financial services, professional services and sport, including athletics, through my work with Birmingham based Birchfield Harriers. More recently I've entered into the arts sector through my current employment which has allowed me to work with clients in the US and Australia, such as Mebourne Symphony Orchestra and the ATT Centre in Dallas.
Having a passion for social media, I like to make sure I’m following and keeping on top of the latest trends, part of the latest network or downloading the latest apps to my phone.
When I’m not working I like to spend times with good friends, Yelping, visiting new cities, catching a movie and grabbing a few drinks along the way, naturally. I like to keep fit by swimming twice a week and eating healthily when and where I can. I also like to catchup on industry news by reading online blogs and I occasionally write reviews for GeekTown.co.uk.
In 2009 I set up and continue to run International Drag Day, an annual event to celebrate drag artists worldwide.
“Adam designed a complete website for Birchfield Harriers. We were delighted with both the standard of his work and the timescale within which he delivered the final project. He was at all times highly creative and accessible and worked to very tight deadlines. In addition he was very communicative and understood our requirements very quickly. He was at all times professional and it was a pleasure to work with him. Adam has now produced a site which now reflects the standing of the club in the world of athletics and we would recommend him highly to anyone wishing to use his services in future.”
“Adam's work on the PME newsletter is superb. It's never easy working within the guidelines of large organisations. To have done so when starting from a clean piece of paper and to get it right first time shows Adam's superb vision, flair and management skills.”
“Adam's knowledge of web design, social media and awareness of visual impact are second to none. His enthusiasm is infectious and working with him has always been an absolute pleasure. I have no hesitation in recommending Adam to anyone looking for a dynamic and creative web designer.”
“Adam is a diligent and motivated individual who has a high level of social skills, which he employs in all professional interactions. During my time as Adam’s lecturer and dissertation tutor I found him motivated and able to apply difficult concepts and ideas in his theory work. In production work Adam operates at a high level with excellent generation of ideas and the ability to be creative and thoughtful about his work. I have no reticence to recommend Adam as a potential employee. He is a pleasant, thoughtful and creative individual.”
“Adam built my website www.behindthemusic.co.uk, he was excellent at coming up with creative ideas to make the website both visually attractive and easily accessible. He also had the time and patience to teach me how to keep the website updated at my own leisure, something that I knew nothing about to begin with. I would definitely use Adam's service again, he is professional, personable and creative.”
“Adam is a creative and highly motivated individual, a great team leader who is focussed and always delivers to deadlines.”
