It’s for Chad, the tax paying, Walsall College employee, fabulous friend and alter ego of Sarah Tonin, who the government deems not worthy enough to be granted a visa and stay in this country.
UK Home Office: Kicks out tax-paying, educator
Special Needs Manager Told to Leave U.K
By Benjamin Brittain
'Good guys finish last', goes the saying and now the honest taxpayer are being targeted by the UK Home Office.
Chad Morris, an educator with a highly-specialised skill set, manages the Inclusive Support department at a prestigious West Midlands college. He has a god-son. He has a large network of friends. He has an apartment. You could say his life is in the UK and you’d be right about that.
But, the Home Office under recent sweeping immigration reforms have decided that people like Chad Morris are unwanted and no longer appropriate for the UK. They say, that because he doesn’t earn over £35,000 (just under) that he should leave the life he’s built and toddle off back to the hole he came from.
Such a hole, is Texas. As a gay man, Chad reports that he found it difficult to find his identity in the oppressive and extremely conservative American state. He was bullied and denied what in the U.K would he considered his basic civil liberties.
Now relatively emancipated from his family, Chad has reported feeling extreme ‘fear’ and ‘anxiety’ at returning to the culture of the deep American South.
"I’ve finally got my life where I want it to be. Now the Home Office has told me to go. I work hard, I pay taxes, why would they want me to go? My life is here" - Chad
With a god-son here, friends, a prestigious career, I struggle to pin-point the reasoning behind the Home Office’s decision. I am sure you are too. It seems this is the way of immigration here in the U.K now. You will, of course, recall the not so recent Australian systemic therapist received similar unfair news. This lady has resided in the U.K for 9 years, with two masters, has also been told to leave.
So, what is going on? Are the Home Office rejecting hard-working, highly-skilled, taxpayers?
Shouldn’t we in fact be celebrating these skilled individuals, who are helping the local community and the local economy? Such injustice seems to be the badge of the Conservative party now, and immigration has now been truly darkened by their policies. At the heart of the ideological war the Conservatives are waging, are humans, real people, like Chad Morris, who while fighting tears, have to leave the home they’ve built and the country they love.
